Heritage Fine Arts Program to visit the “Big Apple”
Heritage Fine Arts is going to the Big Apple.
In 2020.
However, the group is starting to plan now. Fine Arts Director Justin Lee said that just after Memorial Day in 2020 the group will board a bus and head east.
“While there, we will experience as much as possible,” he said. “We could see a Broadway show, take a night dinner cruise around Manhattan, visit the 9/11 Memorial, see the city from the Top of the Rock, visit some of the world’s greatest museums, hear our chorus perform at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, tap toes with our band under the wings of the Space Shuttle on the deck of the WWII aircraft carrier Intrepid, see Times Square, and so much more.”
The date is not yet finalized but Lee said the group will be gone for five days and four nights sometime in the 10 days immediately following Memorial Day 2020.
Lee said he is announcing the trip this early so they can fundraise and plan music performance opportunities while in New York as well as give families the chance to budget for the trip.
“And so those who are certain they are going can start saving now,” he said.
The trip is open to all seventh through eleventh graders currently enrolled in band or chorus and any interested adult who is over 25, related to a participant and willing to chaperone.
Enrollment for the trip is open through Dec. 1, 2018.
No deposit is required.
To enroll go to https://bit.ly/2Cb3hsz.
After December 1, 2018, all enrolled will be asked to make a deposit of $50 and either commit to a monthly payment plan, fundraising, a combination of both, or decline participation in the trip.
“That will be the point everyone locks in,” Lee said.
All of the fundraising done before the Dec. 1 deadline can count as trip credit, Lee said. All fundraising after the deadline will count as well.
Families with two or more students participating will receive a discount.
