St. Joseph I-74 exits to close Oct. 29 and Oct. 31

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that the on- and off-ramps along eastbound Interstate 74 at St. Joseph (exit 192) will close Monday Oct. 29, weather permitting. The westbound on- and off-ramps also will be closed beginning Wednesday, Oct. 31, weather permitting.
The closures are necessary for crews to safely perform milling and paving operations on the interchange ramps. The eastbound ramps will be closed for approximately two days. Message boards and signs will be in place to alert motorists heading eastbound on I-74 toward St. Joseph to take the University Avenue exit (exit 185) and then take U.S. 150 to St. Joseph.
The westbound ramp closures also are expected to be completed in two days. Message boards and signs on I-74 will direct westbound motorists heading toward St. Joseph to take the Ogden exit (exit 197) and travel U.S. 150 to St. Joseph.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
