Local Veterans Invited to Veterans Day Ceremonies
The St. Joseph, Ogden and Homer communities invite Veterans to participate in several ceremonies between Nov. 9 and Nov. 12.
Nov. 9 at 8 a.m.
St. Joseph Grade School will be having a breakfast and assembly to honor veterans on Nov. 9 at 8 a.m.
Nov. 9 at 11 a.m
St. Joseph Middle School is providing a lunch for area veterans from 11-12:15. The lunch will be provided by the SJMS Student Council. Local Veterans who are interested in attending should contact Sandy Bayles at bayspteach@stjoe.k12.il.us
Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.
The Heritage School District will hold their annual Veterans Day event on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Homer building. The event will include student vocal and instrumental performances, poems, a community sing-a-long and recognition of area veterans. Veterans are invited to attend.
Nov. 11 at 5 p.m.
Homer United Methodist Church will express their gratitude for Veterans during a free appreciation dinner Sunday night. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, homemade rolls, green beans, cheesecake, and sugar-free sweets. The church is accepting photos of Veterans who have passed to display during the event.
Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.
The American Legion Post 634 will be having a Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial at St. Joseph-Ogden High School on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. Immediately following, the Legion will be hosting a ham and bean with cornbread and chili lunch at the Legion Hall. The lunch is free of charge.
