57-year old Angela Lewis has been identified as the victim of an afternoon fire, which started in the garage of 600 block of South Church Street in Homer Friday.
Three other family members and the household pets who were in the home escaped the fire, which began at 3:44 p.m.
The Homer Fire Department, with help from Sidney, St Joseph, Ogden-Royal, Broadlands-Longview, Fairmount, Philo and Villa Grove extinguished the fire in about an hour.
PRO Ambulance, METCAD, the Champaign County Sheriffs Office, State Fire Marshall’s Office, the MABAS Investigation Team and the American Red Cross were also on the scene.
Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene by Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
