Spartan basketball teams pick up wins

Chance Izard hit 5 of 9 three-point shots on Tuesday and scored a team-high 15 points as St. Joseph-Ogden posted a 51-49 win at Monticello.
Izard was joined in double figures by two teammates. Joel Orcutt had 14 points and Jack Cook had 12 points.
Cook pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Orcutt grabbed five rebounds.
Payton Cain handed out a team-high three assists.
SJ-O (14-8) returns to action on Friday at home against Pontiac.
Girls’ basketball
St. Joseph-Ogden
Senior Bree Trimble scored a season-high 32 points for the Spartans (22-4) in Tuesday’s 58-50 non-conference home victory over Mattoon.
She scored 17 first-half points in a game SJ-O led 24-21 at intermission.
Peyton Crowe scored 10 points and Hannah Dukeman added nine for SJ-O.
The Spartans return to action Thursday at home against Bloomington Central Catholic.
Villa Grove/Heritage
No player scored in double figures for the Blue Devils (20-7), who lost at home to Tri-County, 55-25, on Monday.
Tri-County (23-4) has beaten VG/Heritage twice in the past two weeks.
Kyleigh Block scored nine points and Aliya Holloman had seven for the Blue Devils.
Tri-County led, 15-2, after one quarter and 34-6 at halftime.
VG/H is scheduled to return to action on Thursday at Martinsville.
