Heritage baseball overpowers Fisher and Tri-County, Softball defeats Broadlands

The Villa Grove/Heritage Hawks reached double figures in runs scored for the fifth time in their last seven baseball games on Thursday, overpowering Fisher 15-2 in Fisher.

Mason Wyant pitched a five-inning four-hitter. He walked two and struck out five.

Nick Coffin was the catalyst of an 11-hit attack, going 4-for-4 while scoring four runs and driving in four runs. Coffin had a double and a triple among his hits.

Ryan Cheatham knocked in four runs and Kane Davison delivered three hits. Keagan Patterson scored three runs.

On Friday, the Hawks spotted visiting Tri-County a five-run lead in the top of the first inning, but pulled ahead with nine runs in the bottom of the inning en route to an 18-5 triumph.

Davison was 4-for-4 with four RBI.

Patterson had three hits and Cheatham drove in three runs.

Carson Howard scored four runs and pitched 4 2/3 innings, striking out seven without allowing an earned run.

VG/Heritage (10-6) returns to action on Tuesday at home against Schlarman Academy.

Softball

The Hawks unleashed a barrage of power in Thursday’s 7-4 conquest over Westville in Broadlands.

Gracyn Allen, Kenzie Davison and Melanie Smithenry all socked triples and Aliya Holloman produced two doubles.

On Friday, Heritage picked up a forfeit win from Tri-County.

Heritage (5-9) returns to action today at Villa Grove.

Girls’ track and field

The Blue Devils scored two points and ended in 19th place in Friday’s Unity Invitational.
