Oakwood Grade School donates to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter
Fifth and sixth grade students at Oakwood Grade School recently enjoyed spending time together at the school’s spring dance.
But they also impacted the community in a big way.
As the eleven sixth-grade girls who suggested the dance prepared to host their peers, they also wanted to find a way to give back.
Instead of charging an admission fee, they chose to ask for donations for animals at the Vermilion County Animal Shelter. In addition to 112 supplies, the school donated $120 to support the shelters need.
This isn’t the first time the school has given back to the community after a dance, though. In the fall, the sixth-grade students hosted a Halloween dance and collected over 160 food items for the Oakwood Food Bank.
