Taylor places fourth at Spartan Classic, Comets baseball drop non-conference game in bottom of 11th inning

Paris needed 11 innings on Saturday to dispatch visiting Oakwood and register a 4-2 non-conference baseball triumph.

The Tigers scored the winning runs on a one-out, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th.

Isaiah Ruch had three of Oakwood’s hits and scored a run. Jacob Spear also scored for the Comets.

Lucas Huchel pitched the first seven innings. He allowed seven hits while walking three and striking out three.

Josh Young allowed just one hit in 3 1/3 innings. He fanned five and walked one, but suffered the loss.

Oakwood (11-9) is scheduled to return to action – weather permitting – on Wednesday at home against Westville.

Boys’ track and field

Cameryn Taylor placed fourth on Friday in the 400-meter run for Oakwood in the Spartan Classic at St. Joseph.

His time was 54.02 seconds.
