Herbrandt and Burwell make marks in IHSA Track and Field tournaments

Villa Grove/Heritage sophomore Meike Herbrandt placed 19th out of 40 qualifiers in the long jump in the Class 1A girls’ state track and field meet at Eastern Illinois University, in Charleston.
Herbrandt had a best mark of 16 feet, 7 ½ inches on Thursday.
Boys’ track and field
Chase Burwell was the lone top 10 placer for the VG/Heritage squad in Thursday’s Class 1A sectional at Sullivan High School.
Burwell had a mark of 43 feet, ¼ inch in the shot put to score two points for the Blue Devils, who ended in a tie for 14th place in the team standings. The sectional team title was won by Pana, with 87 points.
