OSF Soccer gets third shutout, Brewer and Davis lead Cross Country

Junior Brady Tevebaugh’s hat trick propelled Oakwood-Salt Fork to its third soccer shutout of the season, a 5-0 triumph on Tuesday over Schlarman Academy in Danville.

Tevebaugh scored the first two goals of the match, each time assisted by Colin Merritt.

The Comets led 3-0 at intermission.

Merritt later scored as did Joe Lashuay. Reef Pacot assisted Merritt on his goal.

Goalkeeper Chris Winkler had two saves.

O/SF is 3-3-1 and returns to action today at the Oakwood Grade School against Hoopeston Area.

Oakwood Golf

The 1-2 punch of medalist Logen Hoshauer and runner-up Reed Sperry lifted Oakwood past Salt Fork in a match on Tuesday at Wolf Creek.

Oakwood posted a 195-214 victory.

Hoshauer fired a 39 and Sperry finished with a 46.

Travis Goodner tied for third with a 50. Kyle McFarland completed the Comets’ scoring with a 60.

On Wednesday, Hoshauer was again the team’s medalist in a three-school meet at Danville’s Harrison Park. He carded a 44.

In the team chase, Oakwood finished second to Danville, 206-209, but ahead of third-place Westville (229).

The Comets return to action on Friday at Harrison Park against Judah Christian.

Oakwood Boys’ cross-country

Ethan Brewer was the team-leader for Oakwood/Salt Fork on Tuesday in a triangular meet at Kickapoo State Park.

In a race shortened by heat from 3 miles to 2 miles, Brewer placed 17th in 15 minutes, 2.59 seconds.

The non-scored meet also included runners from Armstrong-Potomac and St. Joseph-Ogden.

The Comets return to action on Saturday in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Invitational.

Oakwood Girls’ cross-country

Grace Davis was the individual winner for Oakwood/Salt Fork in Tuesday’s three-school, non-scored meet at Kickapoo State Park.

Heat shortened the race from 3 miles to 2 miles. Davis finished the course in 14 minutes, 44.41 seconds.

Runners from Armstrong-Potomac and St. Joseph-Ogden were also entered.

Other O/SF leaders were Mackenzie Russell (second in 15:29.03), Ally Morris (16:59.20), Katie Fritz (19:01.58) and Cassie Fugate (21:39.08).

Oakwood/Salt Fork returns to action on Saturday in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Invitational.

Oakwood Volleyball

The Comets (4-5) dropped their final pre-conference match on Wednesday, as host St. Joseph-Ogden secured a two-set sweep, 25-8, 25-10.

Oakwood was limited to six kills, including two each from Karsen Rupp and Katelyn Young. 

Young handed out four assists. Teammate Aaliyah Denius led the Comets with two blocks.

Oakwood opens Vermilion Valley Conference play tonight, traveling to Chrisman.
