Stockings for Strength
Help make a teen battling cancer smile this holiday season by donating to Stockings for Strength. Donation boxes are located at Mercantile Antiques as well as the Island Travel Hub.
Suggested items include: fuzzy socks, handheld games and puzzles, Christmas banners and decor, card games, arts and craft kits, magazines, and any other stocking stuffers! Feel free to get as creative with your donations as you’d like.

Little Country Tour Shop Hop
It’s a Christmas Event for everyone! December 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ms. Becky’s, The Crow’s Nest, Kickapoo Pottery, Country Chics, St. Joseph, Illinois, Geschenk Boutique and Coffee and Tea Haus, Ludwig Farmstead Creamery will be decorated with Christmas items and gifts for you to do your Christmas Shopping. Pick up a card at your first shop to have it stamped at each shop so you can register for our grand prize valued at $300.
Santa Claus in Royal
The Village of Royal will host its second annual Gingerbread House Party on Dec. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Royal Community Building. A complimentary lunch will be served at 1 p.m. , a hot chocolate bar, and complimentary pictures will be taken. Guests can also make their own graham cracker gingerbread houses for prizes. Admission is one box of graham crackers for every two people decorating a house.
Santa Claus in St. Joseph
Santa will arrive in St. Joseph via the St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Department on Dec. 14 at 10 a.m.
The big man in red will be available for pictures until noon. A backdrop will be provided, but guests should bring their own camera.
The event will also include cookie decorating, reindeer food-making, coloring, Christmas caroling and music from the St. Joseph-Ogden High School choir and a Secret Santa shop to support the St. Joseph United Methodist Church Feed the Need Program.
Santa Claus in Ogden
Santa will be at the Ogden Rose Public Library from 9 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 7.
The visit will include Christmas readings, crafts and a free ornament for all children.
St. Joe Santa 5K
The second annual St. Joe Santa 5K will take place on Dec. 21 at 9 a.m.
The $25 registration fee includes a Santa hat, Santa beard, long-sleeved red shirt, finishing medal and a photo with Santa.
The event raises money for local charities, race participants will also leave the race with goodies and a memory that will last a lifetime.

Angel Tree at the Apothecary
The St. Joseph Women’s Community Club has placed an Angel Tree at the St. Joseph Apothecary. The tree is decorated with ornaments listing various items to be purchased for several families within the St. Joseph community.
Residents are encouraged to take an ornament and purchase the item listed with a gift receipt, then place the unwrapped gift under the tree by Dec. 14, 2019.
Members of the St. Joseph Church of Christ and the St. Joseph Women’s Club will then wrap the gifts. The Women’s Club will also provide a holiday meal to the families.

Christmas Play
The 2019 Annual Christmas Program at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will be during the service on Dec. 14 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.
St. Joseph-Ogden Holiday Program
The St. Joseph-Ogden High School Band will perform their Holiday Concert, featuring the Band, Jazz Band, Choir, and Guitar Ensemble, on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
The concert will be in the small gym of the high school and admission is free.
Bedtime Stories with Santa
The St. Joseph Church of Christ will host Bedtime Stories with Santa on Dec. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.
