The world is a book.
Those who read, travel to many places, both near and far. But, those who visit only one library may be missing out.
The Illinois Heartland Library System with host its second annual Library Crawl to encourage readers to visit nearby libraries to explore something new.
Over 25 libraries associated with the Illinois Heartland Library System will participate in the crawl. Members of local libraries are encouraged to visit their home library to pick up a passport before visiting at least five other participating libraries between Jan. 10 and 27 to get the passport stamped.
The passport will list the name and address of each participating library.
“Many libraries are handing out small prizes to all those who stop in and get their passport stamped,” Homer Community Library Librarian Christine Cunningham said.
Participants can bring their passport with five stamps back to their home library to be entered into a drawing for a prize provided by their home library.
Because the libraries listed on the passport are part of the Illinois Heartland Library System, guests can check out materials from the library with their valid library card, then return them at their home library before the due date.
