The Comets carried a five-point lead into the fourth quarter at home on Friday against Milford, but were unable to secure a Vermilion Valley Conference victory.
Milford recovered from a 39-34 deficit after three periods to post a 54-49 triumph.
Jackson Powell and Brevin Wells each tallied 14 points to lead Oakwood. Each player hit two three-point shots.
Josh Young chipped in with nine points.
The Comets (12-12) are 5-2 against Vermilion Valley Conference foes and return to action on Tuesday at Hoopeston Area.
