St. Joseph-Ogden Senior Spotlight: Blake Primmer, Jackson Wooten, Isaac Walden and Nick Bensyl
Blake Primmer
Football (4 years), Baseball (4 years), Basketball (1 year), Maroon Platoon
Blake lives in St. Joseph with his mom and dad. He has one younger brother, Ramsey. His hobbies are playing video games, hanging out with friends and family, and weightlifting. His greatest memories at SJO include the first time he played in a varsity football game as a sophomore and when he went to the IHSA State Baseball Tournament as a freshman. After high school, Blake plans to attend Parkland College. He is undecided on his major, but he envisions himself going to a trade school for carpentry as well. His advice for future SJO students is to do homework, turn it in on time, and simply to manage time. His favorite classes at SJO are U.S. History with Mr. Beckett and Geography with Mr. Kieffer. His all-time favorite teachers include Mrs. Dunker at St. Joseph Grade School, Mr. Risley at St. Joseph Middle School, and Mrs. Franzen at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Jackson Wooten
Band (4 years), Scholastic Bowl, Rube Goldberg Team, We The People
Jackson lives with his family in St. Joseph. He has two brothers and a sister. His main hobby is to hangout with family and friends. Jackson has many great memories at SJO. During his freshman year, he marched with the SJO band in the Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C. This is a moment he will never forget, including many other great memories he has had being involved with the SJO band. Also, Jackson enjoyed the Homecoming assembly during his junior year. He felt as if the whole school was connected during this assembly. After high school, Jackson plans to attend Parkland College, and then wants to transfer to the University of Illinois to major in mechanical engineering through Parkland Pathways. His advice for future SJO students is to work hard, and to keep plugging away to be successful. His favorite classes at SJO include Band, and all of the classes he has he has taken with Mr. Schacht. His favorite teachers throughout the years include Mrs. Pirtle at St. Joseph Grade School, Mr. Dassow and Mrs. Stone at St. Joseph Middle School, and Mr. Beckett, Mr. Kieffer, Mr. Schacht, Mr. Duval, and Mr. Glazier at SJO. Congrats to Jackson on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.
Isaac Walden
Baseball (2 years), Maroon Platoon, Art Club
Isaac lives in Ogden with his family. He has two older sisters. His hobbies include roller blading, mini golf, and bowling. Over the years at SJO, Isaac has a lot of positive memories. He really enjoyed going to the IHSA State volleyball games during his freshman year and senior year. He also remembers a hilarious moment from his freshman year when, while practicing a “how to” speech, one of his classmates threw a paper airplane he was working on, which hit Mrs. Franzen in the face during English class. This was definitely an accident, but according to Isaac, this was a quick, hilarious, spontaneous moment that he will never forget. After high school, Isaac plans to attend the University of Illinois at Springfield to study criminology. His advice for future SJO students is to get all of their homework finished. His favorite classes at SJO were all of his HIstory classes with Mr. Kieffer, Mr. Schacht, Mr. Beckett, and English with Mrs. Franzen. Throughout the years, his favorite teachers are Mrs. Pierce, Mrs. Stewart, and Mrs. Max at PVO, and Mr. Kieffer, Mr. Skinner, and Mr. Schacht at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Nick Bensyl
Scholastic Bowl
Nick lives in Ogden with his mom and dad. He has one younger sister. His hobbies include playing video games, and he really enjoys different kinds of trivia. His greatest memories at SJO involve Ms. Pensinger. Nick feels lucky to have had Ms. Pensinger as his substitute teacher for the semester during both his sophomore year and his senior year. Nick has also enjoyed taking college courses at SJO, especially computer networking. After high school, Nick plans to attend Parkland College to study computer science information technology. Nick’s advice for future SJO students is to do all homework. His favorite classes at SJO were World History with Mr. Kieffer and Consumer Education with Mr. Skinner. Throughout the years, his favorite teachers have been Mrs. Max during 5th and 6th grade at PVO, and Mr. Kieffer, Mr. Skinner, and Mr. Beckett at St. Joseph-Ogden High School.
