St. Joseph-Ogden Senior Spotlight: Danie Kelso, Trevon Carr, Adamaris Fuentes and Hailey Birt

Danie Kelso

Track and Field (4 years), Cross Country (1 year), Bible Club

Danie lives in St. Joseph with her family. She has one older sister and one younger sister. Her main hobbies are reading and running. Danie’s greatest memories at SJO center around track and field. During her freshman year, her 4 X 400 M relay advanced to IHSA State, which was an unbelievable moment for Danie. Also, during her junior year, her 4 X 200 M relay placed 1st at IHSA State, which was incredible. After high school, Danie will attend Millikin University to major in nursing and to run track. Her advice for future SJO students is to not take anything for granted. At SJO, her favorite classes were U.S. History and Anatomy and Physiology. Throughout her years of schooling, Danie’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Stierwalt at St. Joseph Grade School, Mr. Risley at St. Joseph Middle School, and Mrs. Kietzman and Mr. Schacht at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Danie on all of her accomplishments and best of luck to her in the future.  

Trevon Carr

Football (4 years), Wrestling (4 years), Maroon Platoon

Trevon lives in St. Joseph with his family. He has one younger brother and one younger sister. His main hobby is hanging out with family and friends. Trevon has many great memories at SJO that revolve around athletics. During his freshman year, Trevon remembers the atmosphere of the first round IHSA Football Playoff game vs. IC Catholic. In the Maroon Platoon, he has also enjoyed watching other sports at SJO have success over the years. He really enjoyed watching the boys’ basketball regional championship game between SJO and BHRA this past February, hosted by SJO. After high school, Trevon will attend the Parkland Pathways program to major in business accounting and will transfer to the University of Illinois after Parkland College. His advice for future SJO students is to stay on top of things and to enjoy your time in high school. His favorite classes at SJO were Spanish with Senora Nelson and Senor Sutton and Geography with Mr. Kieffer. Throughout the years, Trevon’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Mabry and Mr. Risley at St. Joseph Middle School and Mrs. Lindenmeyer, Senor Sutton, and Mr. Schacht at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Trevon will miss high school a lot, and he is thankful that it was such a great experience for him. Congrats to Trevon on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.  

Adamaris Fuentes

Spanish Club, Spanish Club Leader, Cheer (1 year), Drama Club,  Maroon Platoon,  Maroon Platoon Leader

Adamaris lives in St. Joseph with her family. Her hobbies are dancing, baking, and giving her time through volunteer work. Adamaris’s greatest memories at SJO include meeting new people, and she was thankful for all of the new opportunities each year at SJO. After high school, Adamaris will attend Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio to major in pre-PA biology. After Sinclair Community College, she plans to transfer to the University of Cincinnati. Her advice for future SJO students is to not take anything for granted. Her favorite classes at SJO were Spanish with Senor Sutton, PE with Mr. Billman, and English with Ms. Pensinger. Throughout her years of schooling, Adamaris’s favorite teachers include Mr. Risley and Mrs. Kinney at St. Joseph Middle School and Senor Sutton, Mr. Simondsen, and Mrs. Rash at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Adamaris on all of her accomplishments and best of luck to her in the future.  

 

Hailey Birt

Track and Field (4 years), Cross Country (3 years), Maroon Platoon

Hailey lives with her family in St. Joseph. She has one older sister. Her hobbies are walking her dogs and spending time with family and friends. Hailey’s greatest memories at SJO revolve around sports. She has enjoyed the family environment of her track and field and cross country teams. She is very thankful to have been a part of both of these teams, and Hailey thanks everyone that has supported her over the years. After high school, Hailey is attending Illinois College to major in elementary education and to run track and field. Her advice for future SJO students is to soak it all in because time goes by so fast. Her favorite classes at SJO were Accounting with Mrs. Harbaugh and math with Mrs. Steffen. Throughout her years of schooling, Hailey’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Marino at St. Joseph Grade School; Mrs. Mabry and Mr. Risley at St. Joseph Middle School; and Ms. Steffen, Senora Nelson, Mr. Duval, Mrs. Harbaugh, and Mr. Beckett at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Hailey on all of her accomplishments and best of luck to her in the future.
