St. Joseph-Ogden Senior Spotlight: Chance Izard, Kristen Costa, Eliza Lewis and Ethan Hinrichs
Chance Izard
Basketball (4 years), Football (1 year), Maroon Platoon, SJO Handbook Committee, Future Spartans Mentoring Program
Chance lives outside of St. Joseph with his family. He has three older sisters. His hobbies include working out, researching digital marketing, and hanging out with friends. Chance has many great memories at SJO. He appreciates the positive relationships and the constant communication with SJO teachers and staff. He appreciates all of his teachers at SJO, and he thinks the overall environment of SJO is fantastic. Chance has enjoyed all of the basketball relationships over the years as well. After high school, Chance is attending Florida Gulf Coast University to major in finance. His advice for future SJO students is to surround yourself with people that make you better and who help you be as productive as possible. His favorite classes at SJO were English I and English II with Mrs. Chambers, math with Mr. Duval, Civics and Economics with Mr. Schacht, English 101/102 with Mrs. Lindenmeyer, and PE with Mrs. Downs. Throughout his years of schooling, Chance’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Pridemore and Mrs. Baker at St. Joseph Grade School; Mr. Risley and Mrs. Stone at St. Joseph Middle School; and Mrs. Lindenmeyer, Mr. Schacht, Mrs. Rash, and Mr. Duval at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Kristen Costa
Student Council-Class President, Student Council-Student Body President, AMP, Spanish Club, Maroon Platoon, NHS, Drama Club, We The People
Kristen lives in St. Joseph with her family. She has one younger brother, one older brother, and one older sister. Her hobbies are singing, donating her time for volunteer work, and hanging out with friends and family. Kristen’s greatest memories at SJO include her involvement in Student Council. She was elected into the IASC (Illinois Association of Student Council), and she was the first ever SJO student elected to serve as Vice President of this organization. Kristen also really enjoyed planning out the Kickapoo District Convention for Student Council. After high school, Kristen will attend Illinois College to major in Spanish education (K-12). Her advice for future SJO students is to enjoy what you have when you have it, and do not take anything for granted. Her favorite classes at SJO were all of her Spanish classes and Biology. Throughout her years of teaching, Kristen’s favorite teachers include Mr. Dassow and Mrs. Ford at St. Joseph Middle School and Senor Sutton and Mr. Schacht at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Eliza Lewis

Eliza lives in St. Joseph with her family. She has one older sister and one younger brother. Her hobbies include working, Bible journaling, drawing, watching YouTube, and hanging out with friends. Eliza’s greatest memories at SJO centered around the wonderful memories she made with friends at lunch time. After high school, Eliza will attend Judson University to major in architecture and minor in Spanish and Chistrian ministries. At Judson University, Eliza will also be on the cheer team and the dance team. Her advice for future SJO students is to enjoy your time in high school because high school is such a special time in your life. Her favorite classes at SJO were Geometry with Mr. Duval, Sociology with Mr. Kieffer, AP English III with Mr. Searby, Horticulture with Mrs. Nekolny, and Economics with Mr. Schacht. Throughout her years of school, Eliza’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Mabry at St. Joseph Grade School; Mr. Risley and Mrs. Lubinski at St. Joseph Middle School; and Mr. Kieffer, Mr. Duval, Senor Sutton, Ms. Steffen, and Mr. Beckett at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Ethan Hinrichs
Track and Field (1 year), Soccer (2 years), Marching Band (4 years), Scholastic Bowl, Rube Goldberg Team, We The People
Ethan lives in St. Joseph with his family. He has seven siblings: one older sister, two younger brothers, and four younger sisters. His hobbies are reading and working. Ethan’s greatest memories at SJO include the Marching Band trip to Washington D.C. when he was a freshman and going to Chicago as a part of the We The People team. Ethan has also enjoyed spending time with his teachers throughout the years at SJO. After high school, Ethan plans to work two jobs over the summer. He will attend the Parkland Pathways program and will transfer to the University of Illinois to major in aerospace engineering. His advice for future SJO students is to be social and to get out more. His favorite classes at SJO were Physics, AP Chemistry, and all of his classes with Mr. Schacht and Mr. Kieffer. Throughout his years of schooling, Ethan’s favorite teachers include Mrs. McDonald at St. Joseph Grade School; Mrs. Mabry and Mr. Steele at St. Joseph Middle School; and Mr. Schacht, Mr. Kieffer, Mr. Glazier, and Mr. Simondsen at St. Joseph-Ogden High School.
