The Vermilion County Fair and Expo board released a statement Tuesday, cancelling the 2020 Vermilion County Fair, which was scheduled for June 24 to 28.
“With the state’s plan to reopen, it wouldn’t allow for us to open,” the board’s President Rick White said. “Our number one priority is keeping all of our fairgoers safe, and at this time we just don’t know how we could do that.”
The board hopes to reschedule the Queen Pageant at a later date. They are also working to provide some socially distant entertainment over the summer months.
“Please know this was not a decision we wanted to make, but one we had to make so that when we all can be together again everyone is there,” White wrote.
