St. Joseph-Ogden Senior Spotlight: Brady Lewis, Nick Copeland, Isabelle Vliet and Paige DeMay

Brady Lewis

Coffee Club

Brady lives with his family in St. Joseph. He has one younger brother. Brady has been a part of the Coffee Club at SJO for the past two years and enjoyed making and delivering coffee to SJO staff members every Thursday morning. Each member of the staff was always happy to see Brady, with or without coffee in hand. His advice for future SJO students is to always do your best. His favorite class at SJO is Mrs. Beckett’s class. Throughout his years of schooling, Brady’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Manwaring, Mrs. White, Mrs. Bayles, and Mrs. Beckett. Congrats to Brady on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.  

Nick Copeland

Maroon Platoon

Nick lives in St. Joseph with his family. He has one younger sister and one younger brother. His hobbies are bowling and hanging out with his friends. Nick has many great memories at SJO. He enjoyed being in the Maroon Platoon, especially during all of the IHSA State games and rivalry games. Nick also enjoyed all of the Homecoming dances each year at SJO. After high school, Nick will attend Parkland College to study construction management. After Parkland College, Nick plans to possibly transfer to a four year school to study architecture. His advice for future SJO students is to do all of your homework and to enjoy high school while you can because it will be over before you know it. Nick’s favorite classes at SJO were Ag Construction with Mr. Billman, American History with Mr. Schacht, and Chemistry with Mr. Simondsen. Throughout his years of schooling, Nick’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Steele and Mrs. Stierwalt at St. Joseph Grade School; Mr. Risley, Mr. Steele, and Mrs. Ford at St. Joseph Middle School; and Mr. Billman, Mr. Vetter, Mr. Simondsen, Mr. Schacht, Mr. Kieffer, Mr. Duval, and Ms. Pensinger at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Nick on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.  

Isabelle Vliet

Student Council, SADA, Maroon Platoon, Maroon Platoon Leader,  Spanish-Hacky Sack Club, Food Pantry Helper

Isabelle lives with her family in St. Joseph. She has four sisters: one older sister and three younger sisters. Her hobbies are hanging out with her sisters, hanging out with her friends, working on arts and crafts, and practicing photography. Isabelle has many great memories at SJO. She enjoyed going to prom as a freshman, and she has really enjoyed being a part of the Maroon Platoon. As a big time Spartan fan, Isabelle enjoyed being a part of the IHSA State Volleyball Championship Game during her freshman year, the IHSA State Girls’ Basketball Third Place Game her junior year, and the IHSA Volleyball Super-Sectional Game at Palos Heights that the Spartans won in three sets. After high school, Isabelle will attend Parkland College to study nursing. She plans to attend a four year university after Parkland College to earn a Master’s Degree. Isabelle has been inspired by her mom to become a nurse. Her advice for future SJO students is to get involved in the Maroon Platoon and to go to Homecoming, prom, and post prom. Isabelle’s favorite classes at SJO were all of her Spanish classes with Senor Sutton; U.S. History, Economics, and Civics with Mr. Schacht; and art with Mr. Beccue. Throughout her years of schooling, her favorite teachers include Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Camp at St. Joseph Grade School; Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Jeffers at St. Joseph Middle School; and Mr. Schacht, Mr. Beccue, Senor Sutton, and Senora Nelson at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Isabelle on all of her accomplishments and best of luck to her in the future.  

Paige DeMay

Soccer (1 year), Track and Field (3 years), Maroon Platoon,  Band, FFA

Paige lives with her family in St. Joseph. She has one older brother. Her hobbies are running, being around pets, and working at Red Lobster. Paige has many great memories at SJO. She really appreciates the tight knit community and the overall positive classroom setting at SJO. She has enjoyed all of the fun times with her friends, and she will miss SJO. After high school, Paige plans to attend Illinois State University, to become a veterinary technician. Her advice for future SJO students is to keep parents in the loop all four years of high school, learn time management skills, and to be involved in as many activities as possible. Her favorite classes at SJO were any classes with Mrs. Steffen, Mr. Beckett, and Mr. Schacht. Throughout her years of schooling, Paige’s favorite teachers include Mrs. James at St. Joseph Grade School, Mrs. Stone at St. Joseph Middle School, and Mr. Beckett at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Paige on all of her accomplishments and best of luck to her in the future.
