St. Joseph-Ogden Senior Spotlight: Jaiden Freeman, Tom Nichols, Caleb Evans and Austin Carnes
Jaiden Freeman
Drama Club, Art Club
Jaiden lives in St. Joseph with her family. She has three siblings: two younger brothers and one younger sister. Her hobbies are reading, drawing, listening to music, and playing video games. Jaiden enjoyed SJO and has a lot of great memories. She enjoyed participating in the drama production as a freshman, and she will remember all of the fun moments in Art Club over the years. After high school, Jaiden will attend Parkland College to study architecture. She plans to transfer to a four year university after attending Parkland College. When offering her advice for future SJO students, Jaiden said, “Please trust me on this: do not procrastinate.” Her favorite classes at SJO were Art, math, Earth and Life Science, and Biology. Throughout her years of schooling, Jaiden’s favorite teachers include Mr. Dunker and Mrs. Ford at St. Joseph Middle School and Mr. Beckett and Ms. Pensinger at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Jaiden on all of her accomplishments and best of luck to her in the future.
Tom Nichols
Cross Country, Chorus, Maroon Platoon
Tom lives with his family in St. Joseph. He has three siblings: two older brothers and one younger sister. His hobbies are bike riding, bird watching, and playing video games. Tom’s greatest memories at SJO revolve around cross country. He enjoyed being a part of the team and the overnight trips for some of the invitationals. After high school, Tom plans to join the U.S. Navy. Tom’s advice for future SJO students is to cherish your teenage years and high school memories. Tom’s favorite class at SJO was Journalism. Throughout his years of schooling, Tom’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Pinne at CBCA Middle School, Mr. Steele at St. Joseph Middle School, and Mr. Duval at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Tom on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.
Caleb Evans
Wrestling, Chorus, Maroon Platoon
Caleb lives in St. Joseph with his family. He has five siblings: three older brothers, one younger sister, and one younger brother. His hobbies are fishing, archery, and woodworking. Caleb has many great memories at SJO. He enjoyed participating in wrestling and chorus. Caleb’s favorite quote is “Don’t let others decide your path in life; make it your own.” After high school, Caleb plans to attend Parkland College to study construction. His favorite class at SJO was World Geography with Mr. Kieffer. Throughout his years of schooling, Caleb’s favorite teachers include Mr. Billman and Mrs. Benoit at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Austin Carnes
Track and Field
Austin lives with his family in Ogden. He has three siblings: one older sister and two younger brothers. Austin’s hometown is Crestview, Florida, and he has been an SJO student since January. His hobbies are watching any sports from football and basketball to golf. Austin’s greatest memory at SJO was his first track meet this past February at the U of I Armory. Austin will attend the University of Kansas to double major in personal finance and accounting. His advice for future SJO students is to take care of your school work starting your freshman year to keep a strong GPA throughout your high school career. Austin’s favorite classes at SJO were Economics and Sociology. His favorite teachers at SJO include Mr. Schacht, Mr. Searby, Mr. Kieffer, and Mrs. Kerner. Congrats to Austin on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.
