Homer Community Library to open with COVID-19 restrictions on June 15
The Homer Community Library plans to reopen the library after nearly three months of being closed to patrons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the library open the doors on the southwest corner of the building on June 15, several COVID-19 restrictions will be in place to reduce the spread of the new virus.
The library has created a no-contact check out procedure and set up a returned materials table where patrons will place their returns to avoid hand-to-hand contact.Returned materials will stay in quarantine on this table for 72 hours before being checked in and put back out for circulation.
Patrons will be encouraged to wear a mask. They will also have masks available to purchase for $1.
Two computers have been removed to create a 6-foot distance between stations. Hand sanitizer will be available at the circulation desk and near the computer stations for staff and patron use.
Library staff will be disinfecting common surfaces regularly, including patron computers after each use.
Toys and the AWE children’s computer have been put away for the time being. In-person programming has also been canceled. The library is looking for a virtual alternative for summer programming.
The library staff encourages patrons to look at the online catalog prior to visiting so limit the amount of time in the library. Only 10 people will be allowed in the library at a time.
Curbside service continues to be available for all patrons who would like to receive materials that way.
