IESA Updates Mask Guidance while at contests
The Illinois Elementary School Association updated face mask guidance for students, coaches, and fans when participating and/or attending IESA contests on Aug. 26.
ATHLETES
Face coverings must be worn when riding a bus to and from contests;
Face coverings must fully cover the mouth and nose;
Face coverings are required at all times when not engaged in training, competing or other strenuous activity;
Golf: As of Aug. 18, 2020: For those participating in the activity of golf, face coverings are required to be worn between shots. IESA is currently seeking relief from this mandate that would not require golfers to wear their mask between shots if they can maintain 6 ft. or social distance between other players.;
Softball/Baseball: Face coverings are required whenever athletes are in the dugout or not actively participating in the contest.
COACHES
Face coverings must be worn at all times when not actively engaged in strenuous physical activity.
SPECTATORS
Face coverings must be worn at all times when attending both indoor and outdoor activities.
Face coverings may be temporarily removed when eating and drinking.
