Myren and Pence help St. Joseph-Ogden golf to dual meet victory

Medalist Riley Myren and runner-up Ty Pence helped the St. Joseph-Ogden boys’ golf team to a dual-meet victory over Fisher on Thursday (Aug. 27) at Willow Pond, in Rantoul.
Myren fired a 44 to beat Pence by three shots.
SJ-O topped Fisher, 188-199.
Other Spartan participants were Jacob Kern (48), Logan Smith (49), Maddux Carter (53) and Jack Robertson (54).
In the junior varsity portion of the meet, SJ-O defeated Fisher, 220-267.
McGuire Atwood was the JV medalist with a 48.
Other JV team leaders were Connor Hale (54), Mark Miller (57), Taylor Hug (61) and Caleb Ochs (61).
On Wednesday (Aug. 26), SJ-O dropped a 186-201 decision to Schlarman Academy at Danville Country Club.
Kern was the meet runner-up with a 46.
The Spartans’ other competitors were Robertson (50), Carter (52), Pence (53), Hug (58) and Miller (62).
On Monday (Aug. 24), the Spartans were fifth in a six-team meet at the UI Orange Course, in Savoy.
Pence posted the top 18-hole score for SJ-O. He fired a 93 and tied for 15th individually.
Other team leaders were: Kern (97), Smith (98), Carter (106), Robertson (106) and Atwood (106). Kern ended 20th and Smith 21st in the 36-player field.
SJ-O (1-1) returns to action on Tuesday against Judah Christian.
