Ava Knap leads Spartans at Charleston Invitational

Junior Ava Knap was the leading runner for the Spartans’ in the Saturday (Sept. 5) Charleston Invitational.
She covered the 3-mile course in 20 minutes, 38.70 seconds and placed 10th in a field of 87 competitors.
SJ-O took fifth place in a meet where 11 schools fielded full teams.
Meet champion Mahomet-Seymour had a score of 62 points, followed by Shelbyville (75), Mount Zion (85), Charleston (126) and SJ-O (142).
Other Spartan entries were: Malorie Sarnecki (30th in 21:46.07), Taryn Sexton (31st in 21:47.36), Helene Jones (33rd in 22:14.64), Chloe Burkhalter (38th in 22:26.95), Ashlyn Lannert (41st in 22:39.26), Addie Allen (43rd in 22:52.20) and Kailyn Ingram (51st in 22:57.96).
SJ-O returns to action on Tuesday (Sept.8) at the St. Joseph Community Park against Oakwood and Armstrong-Potomac.
