Mattsey, Maroon and Mock finish in top 10 at Charleston Invitational

In a tight three-way team chase on Saturday (Sept. 5) at the Charleston Invitational, SJ-O produced three top-10 individuals and ended third among 13 schools that fielded full teams.
The Spartans were led by senior Brandon Mattsey (fifth in 16 minutes, 45.94 seconds), freshman Carson Maroon (eighth in 16:54.10) and junior Elijah Mock (ninth in 17:01.81).
In the team race, meet champion Mahomet-Seymour had 50 points, followed by runner-up Olney (57) and SJ-O (60). Mattoon was fourth with 102 points.
Other competitors for SJ-O were: Luke Stegall (16th in 17:20.43), Charlie Mabry (22nd in 17:30.90), Lukas Hutcherson (43rd in 18:36.98), Logan Wolfersberger (44th in 18:39.31) and Spencer Wilson (50th in 18:58.18).
SJ-O returns to action on Tuesday (Sept.8) at the St. Joseph Community Park against Oakwood and Armstrong-Potomac.
