Montgomery leads way for VGH Cross Country at PBL Invitational

Lilli Montgomery led the way for the Blue Devils in the Saturday (Sept. 12) Paxton-Buckley-Loda Invitational.
She finished in 30th place, completing the 3-mile course in 22 minutes, 17.94 seconds.
Montgomery placed second in her heat. Athletes from VG/Heritage, Dwight and Rantoul ran together as five total flights were held in order to comply with social distancing guidelines.
Teammates following her were Emma Buesing (53rd in 24:51.17), Madison Logan (61st in 25:41.21); Hailey Stutz (64th in 25:55.78) and Kyleigh Price (72nd in 27:45.92).
Buesing, Logan and Stutz all posted their top times of the season.
Monticello emerged as the team titlist with 24 points. Runner-up Unity totaled 45 points. VG/Heritage placed 10th with a total of 245 points.
VG/Heritage returns to action on Tuesday at Tuscola in a quadrangular meet at Wimple Park.
