Spartans place second at PBL Invitational

The Spartans had six runners finish within 54 seconds of one another on Saturday (Sept. 12) in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Invitational.
SJ-O ran a strong second to meet champion Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, which held a slender 57-61 edge in the team race.
In the 86-runner field, six SJ-O runners placed among the top 20 individually.
Carson Maroon led the way with a sixth-place performance. His 3-mile time was 16 minutes, 46.03 seconds.
Closely behind him were teammates Charlie Mabry (10th in 17:06.22), Elijah Mock (13th in 17:07.91), Luke Stegall (16th in 17:25.37), Brandon Mattsey (18th in 17:32.90) and Logan Wolfersberger (19th in 17:40.96).
The Spartans’ other finisher was Lukas Hutcherson (31st in 18:20.34).
SJ-O returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 15) at Monticello.
