Kiara Jones is individual winner at Heritage Invitational and at Paxton

Seventh-grader Kiara Jones was 2-for-2 in recent meets.
Jones was the individual winner in the Heritage Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 8) at Homer.
She ran the 2-mile course in 13 minutes, 56.4 seconds and was 21 seconds in front of the runner-up.
Other team leaders were Kamryn Soard (fifth in 16:49.7), Loran Tate (11th in 19:32.6), Madisyn Wilson (12th in 19:44.8), Bree McGarigle (14th in 22:07.3) and Clair Davison (15th in 22:24.1).
Salt Fork won the meet with a score of 36 points. Runner-up Heritage totaled 43 points. Bismarck-Henning did not have enough runners to be scored as a team.
On Thursday (Sept. 10), Jones was the run-away winner in a three-school meet at Paxton.
Her time of 13:47 placed her 67 seconds in front of the second-place finisher.
Soard ended fourth in 15:15. Other Heritage participants were Wilson (18th in 18:36), Tate (20th in 18:54), McGarigle (23rd in 19:30) and Davison (26th in 21:12).
All six of the school’s runners clocked their best time of the week at Paxton.
Holy Cross was the team champion with 25 points. Second-place PBL had 52 points. Heritage totaled 59 points.
Heritage returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 17) at Rossville-Alvin.
