The Knights scored in double figures for the fourth time this season on Thursday (Sept. 10), beating visiting Georgetown-Ridge Farm Mary Miller 14-8.

G-RF carried a 4-2 lead into the fourth inning when Oakwood went ahead to stay with an eight-run outburst.

The Knights had multiple offensive contributors to highlight a 15-hit attack.

“Everybody in the lineup had a hit,” coach Dave Markwell said.

Leadoff batter Sophia Hart led the way. She collected three hits and scored three runs.

Teammates with two hits apiece were Bella Bradford, Samantha Dunnavon, Rylee Wright and Taylor Smoot.

Wright (2-0) earned the pitching win. She pitched all seven innings and fanned seven batters.

Oakwood (4-3), which has won three of its last four games, closes the regular season at home on Thursday (Sept. 17) against St. Joseph (5-4).

Oakwood is the fourth seed for a five-team Class 2A regional that starts on Monday (Sept. 21). Oakwood will play host to fifth-seeded Bismarck-Henning on the 21st.

That winner will move into the semifinals and a showdown on the road against top-seeded Westville on Thursday (Sept. 24).
