Freshman Zach Ruwe finished third individually for Villa Grove/Heritage on Tuesday (Sept. 15) in a four-team meet at Tuscola’s Wimple Park.
Ruwe’s 3-mile time was 18 minutes and 28 seconds.
Two other teammates joined him among the top 10 placers, both after career-best performances.
Rowan Denmark-Collins ran a personal-best 19:15 to take ninth.
Daniel Olson was 10th in 19:41, setting a PR for the fourth consecutive meet.
Other VG/H finishers were Ethan Meneely (11th in a PR of 19:42), Aidan Ashbrook (16th in a PR of 20:34), Lukas Carey (17th in 20:35), Logan Chapman (25th in 23:47) and Austn Zoch (30th in a PR of 25:52).
“It’s another meet with nearly half the team getting PRs, so we feel good about this mid-week break from practice,” VG/Heritage coach Jim Kestner said. “We’re also excited to see newcomer freshman Logan Chapman run under 8-minute per mile pace in his first ever cross-country meet.”
The Blue Devils placed third in the four-school meet, but were just six points behind runner-up Tuscola and eight points behind meet champion Neoga.
VG/Heritage returns to action on Saturday in the Moultrie-Douglas County Championship race at Tuscola’s Wimple Park.
