The Blue Devils didn’t have enough runners to be scored as a team, but two squad members earned medals for their top-10 performances on Saturday (Sept. 19) at the combined Moultrie-Douglas County meet at Tuscola’s Wimple Park.

Emma Buesing was fourth overall, covering the 3-mile course in 22 minutes and 59 seconds. Teammate Kyleigh Price was 10th in 24:48.

The team’s other participants were Madison Logan (11th in 24:52) and Hailey Stutz (12th in 26:49).

Tuscola was the only one of the five schools to get scored as a team and captured team honors.

“Sophomore Emma Buesing shredded her PR (personal record) by nearly 2 minutes,” VG/Heritage coach Jim Kestner said. “She’s now within seven seconds of her career best time.

“Fellow sophomore Madison Logan dropped her PR by nearly a minute and is only 10 seconds off her career best. Kyleigh Price continued to battle back to form, shaving another 90 seconds off her season best.

“She’s in striking distance of a career PR as we head into the second half of the season.”

VG/H competes on consecutive days to start this week, heading to Oakland on Monday (Sept. 21) and to Dodds Park in Champaign on Tuesday (Sept. 22).
