Mustangs win Class 1A IESA Regional Championship

Dalton York’s hit in the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday (Sept. 26) helped Prairieview Ogden snap a 6-6 tie and defeat visiting Schlarman Academy 8-6 in a Class 1A IESA regional championship baseball game.
PVO, which finished with a school-record 11 wins in 13 games, pounded nine hits in the title game.
Kodey McKinney and Graham Ray ended with two hits apiece. York, McKinney and Ray each swiped three bases.
Winning pitcher Coy Taylor (3-0) struck out five during the final three innings. He also swiped five bases and scored two runs.
Taylor and York contributed one hit apiece as did teammates Logan Lackey, Coy Hayes and James Huisinga.
Lackey pitched the first four innings, yielding five hits and just one earned run. He walked two and struck out one batter.
Both of PVO’s losses this season were to Class 2A opponents that played for a regional title, Bismarck-Henning and Oakwood. The Mustangs also defeated Salt Fork, which won a Class 2A regional.
PVO ended the year on a four-game winning streak.
For its 13 games, the Mustangs held an edge over its opponents in runs scored, 88-39.
