Comets finish in pack at Kickapoo State Park

The Comets’ top five runners finished within 61 seconds of one another on Saturday (Oct. 3) in the annual Oakwood Invitational at Kickapoo State Park.
Eli Ronk led Oakwood, taking 21st in the 3-mile race with a clocking of 19 minutes, 24.43 seconds.
Following him were Aidan Skinner (23rd in 19:36.10), Alec Harrison (26th in 19:47.16), Dalton Hobick (27th in 19:54.08) and Coleton Vermillion (29th in 20:25.00).
The team’s other participants were Jacob Taflinger (30th in 20:37.74) and Grant Brewer (34th in 21:41.96).
Forty-two runners completed the course.
Team scores were compiled by adding the times of each school’s top five runners.
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin captured team honors with a combined time of 89:29.23.
Five schools had full teams. Following the Blue Devils were LaSalette (91:29.06), Rantoul (94:52.07), Oakwood/Salt Fork (99:07.17) and Armstrong-Potomac (127:50.33).
Oakwood returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 13) at Kickapoo in the Vermilion Valley meet.
