Freshman Zach Ruwe placed seventh and earned all-conference honors on Friday (Oct. 2) in the Lincoln Prairie Conference boys’ cross-country meet at Bethany.
Ruwe’s 3-mile time was 17 minutes and 38 seconds.
Two of his teammates recorded their top times.
Sophomore Rowan Denmark-Collins ran 19th in a career-best 18:48 and freshman Aidan Ashbrook took 27th in a season-best 20:04.
The other VG/Heritage finishers were all freshmen: Lukas Carey (30th in 20:27), Logan Chapman (48th in 24:51) and Austin Zoch, (51st in 28:00).
“Rowan Denmark-Collins sustained a strong effort throughout to put himself ahead of where he was this time last year,” coach Jim Kestner said. “I’m excited to see the team as it competes in its last few weeks of smaller meets and turns its focus to the regional.”
The Blue Devils placed fifth in the team standings.
Villa Grove/Heritage returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 6) at Sullivan.
