The Blue Devils had two top-10 placers in the Friday (Oct. 2) Lincoln Prairie Conference girls’ cross-country meet at Bethany.
Three squad members registered their best times.
The VG/Heritage leaders were freshman Lilli Montgomery and sophomore Emma Buesing.
Montgomery captured all-conference laurels after finishing in fifth place with a 3-mile time of 21 minutes and 34 seconds.
Buesing ended in ninth place with a career-best time of 22:14.
Sophomore Kyleigh Price placed 20th in 24:32, sophomore Madison Logan was 21st in a career-best 24:40) and junior Hailey Stutz wound up 24th with a season-best 25:16.
As a team, VG/Heritage ended in third place.
“Both girls and boys squads ran hard and performed well,” coach Jim Kestner said. “It’s great to have two all-conference athletes, and these freshmen are going to be runners to watch as they continue their high school careers.
“I was especially happy to see Emma Buesing establish herself among the best in the conference with a break-out performance.”
Villa Grove/Heritage returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 6) at Sullivan.
