Heritage’s Kiara Jones runs away with win at Heritage Invitational

Seventh-grader Kiara Jones ran away from the field on Tuesday (Oct. 6) in the three-school junior high girls’ Heritage Cross-Country Invitational at Homer.
Jones ran the 2-mile course in 13 minutes and 25 seconds. She was 1 minute and 2 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Heritage was the only school to field a full team.
The team’s other finishers were: Kamryn Soard (fourth in 16:22), Madisyn White (fifth in 17:41), Loran Tate (eighth in 18:59), Breanna McGarigle (10th in 20:21) and Clair Davison (11th in 21:21).
Heritage will return to action on Thursday (Oct. 8) at Casey. Heritage will also run in the six-team Casey Sectional on Friday (Oct. 16).
