The top runners from three schools finished in a near photo-finish on Tuesday (Oct. 6) in the boys’ junior high school Heritage Cross-Country Invitational at Homer.
Villa Grove’s Kurt Zimmerman was the narrow winner, covering the 2-mile course in 12 minutes and 30 seconds.
He was just in front of Philo St. Thomas’ Caleb Mathias (12:31) and Heritage’s Hunter Montgomery (12:32).
Other Heritage leaders were Christian Paul (fifth in 13:50), Clark Roland (eighth in 15:52) and Atticus Ashbrook (15th in 21:57).
Heritage will return to action on Thursday (Oct. 8) at Casey. Heritage will also run in the six-team Casey Sectional on Friday (Oct. 16).
