St. Joseph Girls Cross Country finishes 5th at Illini Prairie Conference meet
The team order of finish on Saturday (Oct. 10) in the Illini Prairie Conference girls’ cross-country meet at the St. Joseph Community Park matched the latest version of the milesplit.com state rankings.
Top-ranked Monticello won the IPC title with 29 points. Second-ranked Tolono Unity was the runner-up with 45 points.
They were followed by 13th-ranked Stanford Olympia (90 points), 15th-ranked St. Thomas More (122 points) and 19th-ranked St. Joseph-Ogden (136) in fifth place.
Seven schools fielded full teams.
Junior Ava Knap was the Spartans’ leader. She completed the 3-mile course in 20 minutes, 19.21 seconds and was 21st in the 56-person field.
She was followed by two freshmen teammates: Helene Jones (23rd in 20:28.93) and Chloe Burkhalter (30th in 20:58.85).
The other SJ-O competitors were: Malorie Sarnecki (32nd in 21:03.39), Kailyn Ingram (35th in 21:11.77), Addie Allen (37th in 21:22.56) and Ashlyn Lannert (42nd in 21:49.06).
The Spartans return to action on Saturday (Oct. 17) at Monticello.
