Oakwood boys finish second in Vermilion Valley Conference boys’ cross-country meet

The Comets placed second on Tuesday (Oct. 13) in the Vermilion Valley Conference boys’ cross-country meet at Kickapoo State Park.
Meet champion Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin ended with 17 points. Oakwood/Salt Fork had a final score of 38. They were the only programs to field full teams.
The top seven runners earned all-conference honors. A near-miss was the Comets’ Eli Ronk. He finished eighth in 18 minutes, 39.65 seconds and was just 1.25 seconds behind the No. 7 placer.
The other Oakwood/Salt Fork competitors were: Alec Harrison (10th in 19:38.75), Aidan Skinner (13th in 20:13.80), Dalton Hobick (14th in 20:37.89), Coleton Vermillion (18th in 21:32.98), Jacob Taflinger (20th in 23:26.98), Ethan Brewer (21st in 23:43.39) and Grant Brewer (22nd in 23:51.79).
Oakwood/Salt Fork will return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 20) in the Vermilion County meet, which will also be held at Kickapoo.
