Two of the three Villa Grove girls who participated in the Friday (Oct. 16) IESA Class 1A sectional meet at Casey-Westfield posted their best 2-mile times of the season.
Seventh-grader Hayden Thomas was 13th, finishing the course in a season-best 15 minutes and 5 seconds.
Teammate Eva Piercy, also a seventh-grader, was 16th (16:10) and the other VG representative, sixth-grader Lilly-Lynn Davis, cut more than 30 seconds off her career-best, registering a time of 16:29. Davis placed 18th.
The IESA sectional race was the final competition of the season for all junior high cross-country programs in the state.
