The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Champaign County Road 2000E over Interstate 74 just west of St. Joseph is closed indefinitely. 

The closure is necessary because of damage to the bridge from an oversize load striking it. Motorists are advised to use CR 1800E, CR 1900E (CH 24) and CR 2200E (CH 12) as alternate routes. 

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
