Armstrong and Jacob start the season with double figures

Two players scored in double figures on Thursday (Feb. 4) as the Spartans opened the season at home with a 47-33 victory over Villa Grove/Heritage.

Ella Armstrong scored 15 points and Payton Jacob added 10 for SJ-O. Collectively, they made 7 of 10 free throws for a team that combined to make 12 of 15 shots from the foul line.

Armstrong and Alyssa Hamilton each nailed three-pointers for the Spartans.

Thanks to seven first-quarter points from Armstrong, SJ-O led 11-10 entering the second stanza.

SJ-O returns to action on Monday (Feb. 8) at St. Thomas More, in Champaign.
