In a Tuesday (Feb. 9) showdown between boys’ basketball teams which had registered a first-game win, Oakwood needed overtime to subdue Schlarman 62-60 in Danville.
Isaiah Ruch was one of three Comets in double figures, notching a team-high 20 points.
Josh Young hit 16 points and Brevin Wells added 11 points, including a 4-for-4 showing from the free throw line in the extra session.
The game was the Vermilion Valley Conference opener for Oakwood (2-0).
The Comets return to action on Friday at Milford (5-1).
