Coach Corey White didn’t have to wait long on Wednesday (Feb. 17) to get an idea of whether he would record his 100th career victory in his first attempt at that milestone.
His Villa Grove/Heritage boys’ basketball team jumped into a 20-2 lead after one quarter at Argenta-Oreana and cruised to a 49-24 triumph.
VG/Heritage is 2-2 for the season. White has earned 73 wins while coaching the Hawks. The other 27 wins came during his tenure at Hume Shiloh.
Senior Logan Nohren led the way at A-O with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Jake Eversole scored nine points and Issac Mahoe added eight points. Eversole, Nick Coffin and Ezra Ely knocked down three-pointers for VG/H, which led 32-8 at halftime.
The Hawks return to action on Friday (Feb. 19) at home against Arcola.
