Wells’ 30 puts Oakwood over Georgetown-Ridge Farm

Senior Brevin Wells drained eight three-point shots – four in the third quarter – helping Oakwood more than double the score on visiting Georgetown-Ridge Farm on Friday (Feb. 19), 67-33, in a boys’ Vermilion Valley Conference basketball game.
Wells scored a game-high 30 points.
Three teammates joined him in double figures.
Dalton Hobick scored 14 points, Isaiah Ruch had 10 points and Josh Young added 10 points as well.
Oakwood held a 30-23 lead at halftime and pulled away by limiting the Buffaloes to three second-half field goals.
On Saturday (Feb. 20), junior Young became the fourth squad member with a 20-point game this season, but the Comets dropped a 63-60 decision to Villa Grove/Heritage in Broadlands.
Young collected a game-high 24 points. Wells seconded him with 16 points and added four more three-pointers to his team-leading total (16).
Hobick and Ruch each contributed nine points.
VG/Heritage led, 20-7, after one quarter, but the Comets had trimmed their deficit to 48-46 entering the final stanza.
Oakwood (4-2) returns to action on Tuesday (Feb. 23) at Bismarck-Henning.
