8th grade Comets end season with 4-4 record

Jackson Dudley was the top scorer for Oakwood Junior High’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball team in six games during the recently-completed season.

Oakwood ended with a 4-4 season record.

On Friday (Feb. 26), Oakwood lost at Gifford, 38-34. Dudley and Bryson Marcinko each scored eight points.

On Tuesday (March 2), Marcinko’s 12 points led Oakwood to a win at home over Westville, 29-17.

Dudley registered his third 20-point game of the season on Thursday (March 4) at home, helping Oakwood get past Hoopeston Area 50-24. Dudley scored 24 points.

In the season-finale, on Saturday (March 6) at Schlarman Academy, in Danville, Oakwood dropped a 34-25 decision. Dudley’s 10 points topped the team.

Three of the Oakwood losses were by no more than nine points.

Dudley had the team’s top scoring performance for the year, 25 points against Armstrong-Potomac.

Marcinko led, or shared, the team lead in scoring in two games. Kamden Acord was the top scorer in one game.
