St. Joseph 8th grade boys’ basketball ends season with 8-3 record

The St. Joseph eighth-grade boys’ basketball team finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and a 4-1 mark at home.
On Thursday (Feb. 25), the Panthers won at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, 49-25. Colin Thomey hit for 18 points and Kendrick Johnson contributed nine points.
On Monday (March 1), St. Joseph completed a 2-0 sweep of Tolono Unity, winning at home, 45-10. Thomey (11 points) and Johnson (10 points) were the top scorers.
On Wednesday (March 3), Mount Zion handed the Panthers a 52-32 setback. Thomey made a team-high 18 points and Johnson added seven points.
In the season-finale, on Thursday (March 4), St. Joseph edged Prairieview Ogden at home, 44-39. Tanner Siems hit 13 points and James Barron chipped in with nine points.
The eighth-grade team completed its season with an overall 8-3 record. Siems and Thomey each led the team in scoring in five games. Kyler Swanson was the top point-maker in one game.
