Senior forward Logan Ingram scored a hat trick – in each half – on Monday (March 29) as the Spartans hit a season-high 10 goals in a soccer shutout over visiting Watseka.

Ingram scored the first three goals of the match. Jared Emmert also hit a first-half goal to lift SJ-O into a 4-0 lead at intermission.

Emmert and Mason Behrens scored to start the second half, before Ingram completed his six-goal match by adding three more scores. For the season, he has a team-high 11 goals in eight matches.

Hunter Ketchum, who had six first-half saves as the goalkeeper, played in the field after the break and also hit a goal.

In Ketchum’s absence in front of the net, Ethan Lane had two saves to secure the shutout, the team’s first of the season.

The offensive outburst nearly doubled the number of goals the Spartans have tallied. The season total is now 24.

On Tuesday (March 30), SJ-O’s four-match winning streak was halted with a 9-2 loss at Monticello. The Sage led 5-2 at intermission.

Behrens tallied both of the Spartans’ goals, the first one assisted by Ingram and the second one courtesy of Emmert.

Ketchum registered a season-high 17 saves.

SJ-O (4-4) will return to action on Thursday (April 1) at Chillicothe IVC.
