What skillset will you bring to the board, if elected?

(Mayor, Uncontested)

Heather McArty: I have held a multitude of positions within the finance industry for the past twenty plus years, therefore, I am accustomed to working with complex budgets, accountability metrics and cash management. These skills along with my experience in board relations, managing organizations, leading people and developing community partnerships will similarly prove valuable in a municipality setting.

Trustee (Vote for 3, listed alphabetically):

RICHARD BOGESS: None really, I mean I don’t have a cause to champion or a platform, I’m a guy who is wanting to have a voice at the table that helps in making decisions to better the village.

CATHI CANNON FRITZ: I have a career-long track record of being an advocate and a fighter. I stand for what I believe in and I don’t give up. I have been in the medical field for over 20 years, the last 15 spent in the surgical device sector. I have been a fierce advocate for patient health, fighting for access to the latest and best technology and treatment.  Look me up on Linked IN!

JASON ELLIOT:I bring several years of leadership experience from my professional life, that I believe can be utilized for the community in this position. My personality and communication skillset will also be positive attributes that will be beneficial in the role of Trustee. Most of all, my loyalty and passion for my family, friends and community will be on full display if I am elected.

DOUG HANNER: Did not answer

TERRY HUME: I have lived in this town most of my Life.  I started Volunteering for the Fire Department in the mid-1960. I have been Assistant Fire Chief,  Assistant Chief of ESDA (now EMA) , Part Time Police Officer for Oakwood Potomac and Fairmount. I have also worked for Oakwood Township on the roads, Worked in different factories as Tool & Die Maker/ machinist for over 30 years. I started the Oakwood Ambulance service for the Village in March 1978 and ran it for over 40 years. In doing so I have been at most of the Village Board meetings (but never as a board member so never had a say so on how things were done) which let me see how things work and what the board can and cannot do.  I believe this would help me be a good Trustee.

MITCH LEVERENZ: I have 20 years experience in local government. I am also an owner in a 3rd generation family business which helps me understand the business aspects of the Village.

DAVID LEWIS: I have been in technical and analytical solutions for most of my career, I look at data and find the story that it tells, then advocate for the story that it wants to tell. What is lacking is the transparency in the data that is being presented by our Village meeting minutes and Trusteeship.
The Village does not present their full data nor does it provide accessible (or even livestreamed) discussion information.
There is no reason a member of our community must be pre-screened to address the board (@Oakwood Mini Warehouses, @Oakwood Laundry or @Liquor Box) nor should we tolerate private Trustee meetings where our community members must watch the Village website to know are scheduled with minimal notice. There is no reason a member of our community should ever have to issue FOIA requests to find information about their community’s financial information or to understand why we are enacting a policy – we should be publicly and openly letting this community know what is happening, without barriers.
My passion for transparency comes through in many of my daily practices and will be something that I advocate for every day in our local government if I am elected.

BOB PARR : I think my background in business,my experience as a trustee, and former mayor, along with the processes that are required to participate in Village business benefit me.

ROBERT WRIGHT: Traditionally over the past 25 years, I’ve worked in manufacturing as either an engineer or project manager.  I currently work at Watchfire Signs as the Director of Project Management.  I was also Watchfire’s project manager for the Fremont Street Experience from late 2017 through the completion in late 2019.  I’ve travelled to Japan, Germany, Italy, and China for work and I often get involved in the larger projects for the company as a point person on getting a job done.  I commonly see a way to accomplish a goal and help others to see the same thing.  I don’t accomplish projects by myself and I’m not usually the smartest person in the room, but I’m good at spotting those people and working with them so we can accomplish them as a team.  I have a B.S. from Illinois State University, a Project Management Professional certification from PMI, and a Six Sigma Blackbelt certification from ASQ.  I am also Watchfire’s qualified agent for construction licenses we have in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Nevada, California, and several major cities throughout the country.  With our legal firm, I often interpret and help write contracts for Watchfire relating to projects such as Fremont Street.  However, my role is not necessarily always technical.  I work with people of all walks of life and nationalities to interact with them daily.  I hold meetings to communicate change and discuss important facts of what is going on.  I also provide large group training internally to others on project management activities or product features.  This combination of duties also requires me to be very capable with computers and many software platforms.  As a trustee I will provide these same abilities to the community.  It is my hope that I will help to introduce more growth opportunities and clear comprehensive information to community members on the important facts of what the village is doing, why, and when it will be done.
