Comet soccer defeats Unity and Hoopeston to extend win streak

Sam Howie and Brady Tevebaugh each scored hat tricks on Thursday (April 1) as the Comets won a soccer match, a 7-2 triumph at Tolono Unity.
Tevebaugh scored the first of his three goals – assisted by Howie – to open the match’s scoring.
Joe Lashuay added a goal and Howie netted two goals as Oakwood/SF built a 4-0 lead at intermission.
Howie’s first two goals were on assists by Grant Powell and Tiffany Paris.
The Comets’ lead reached 6-0 before the Rockets dented the scoreboard.
Oakwood/SF goalkeeper Aaron Dean was credited with three saves.
On Saturday (April 3), the Comets won their third road match of the week, 5-1 at Hoopeston Area.
The Comets have a seven-match winning streak overall.
Cooper Myers scored the first goal of the match for Oakwood/SF, but it was a goal by Tevebaugh that snapped a 1-1 deadlock before intermission.
Tevebaugh scored his second consecutive hat trick, raising his team-high goal totals to 16.
Howie, Pacot, Powell and Dean all had assists.
In his time in goal, Dean had four saves.
The Comets (7-1) return to action on Monday (April 5) at Watseka.
