SJ-O girls track wins 13 of 15 events in first meet of 2021

The Spartans opened the track season at home on Tuesday (April 13) by dominating a non-scored dual meet against Clinton.

SJ-O won 13 of 15 events and placed first and second in 10 of those events.

Senior Atleigh Hamilton won three individual events and freshman Payton Carter was a two-event individual winner.

Hamilton took top honors in the 200-meter dash (26.73 seconds), the 400-meter dash (1:02.59) and the long jump (17 feet, 4 ½ inches).

Carter was dominant in the 100-meter dash (1.50 seconds) and the pole vault (9 feet, 6 ½ inches).

Six squad members were triumphant in one individual event.

Ava Knap won the 800 meters (2:37.49), Kailyn Ingram won the 3,200 meters (14:00.52), Kaytlyn Baker captured the 100 hurdles (18.51), Ashlynn Lannert prevailed in the 300 hurdles (53.56), Mary Reed-Thompson was the high jump leader (4 feet, 10 ¼ inches) and Raegan Crippin took top honors in the triple jump (29 feet, 3 ½ inches).

SJ-O produced two winning relays.

The 800 unit of Grace Schmitz, Hope Rajlich, Crippin and Reed-Thompson was first in a time of 1:56.49.

The 1,600 foursome of Schmitz, Rajlich, Reed-Thompson and Lannert stopped the clock in 4:41.36.

Runners-up for SJ-O in individual events were Crippin (100 meters), Carter (200 meters), Lauren Lannert (400 meters), Malorie Sarnecki (800 meters), Addie Allen (3,200 meters), Jayci Hayes (100 hurdles), Baker (300 hurdles), Abby Behrens (high jump), Schmitz (pole vault) and Rajlich (long jump).

SJ-O will return to action on Tuesday (April 20) in a dual meet at home against Eureka.
